Patrick Tigwell, Vice Chair of Exeter College and Partner at Westcotts Chartered Accountants, joined Fascist party Britain First on their march through Exeter city centre this weekend.

The march was organised by Nigel Murfin, who has two convictions for harassing women, and claims to be the bodyguard of Paul Golding, previously of the BNP.

Also on the march were Pete Heal, Nick Hubble, and an as yet unidentified woman that headbutted a wheelchair user.

As Patrick and his fascist friends marched past us, in full voice with songs such as “Keir Starmer’s a wanker” and “Send them back” and surrounded by banners and flags for fascist political parties, as well as placards calling for “mass deportations”, we found ourselves wondering how Patrick’s behaviour fits with the Diversity Equality and Inclusion policy that Westcotts advertise so proudly on their website, or the Equality & Diversity policy of Exeter College.

Update 30/10/25: Patrick Tigwell has been removed as Vice Chair of Exeter College’s board of governors, and all record of his stain has been removed from their website. Good decisive action by the college. Over to you, Westcotts. Especially now that we’ve identified the man that marched next to Tigwell, People Director Simon Irvin. Two fascists in one firm is a pretty bad look.
